Recommended EC2 Instance Size for Ejabberd Cluster

What is the recommended Amazon EC2 instance size for creating a large (100k + user) Ejabberd cluster?

I mean, is it more efficient / cheaper to use more small instances or fewer large instances?

And will there be any HVM images for cluster computing of any use for an Ejabberd cluster, or will standard images be enough for this purpose?

eJabberd can use a lot of memory, but does not use a lot of CPU, so memory is the biggest consideration. It really depends on the number of connections you are talking about. 100k + you need at least a large copy.
