Maven JBehave: UTF8 Story Encoding

We were able to create and run tests with internationalized stories using JBehave in eclipse. Everything went well.

But when we tried to run them using the maven plug-in, we cannot get rid of the encoding problem (for example, instead of reading “scénario” from the story, it gets “Scà © nario": obviously the UTF8 encoding problem).

Has anyone found a way to get JBehave to read stories in UTF8 using the maven plugin?

What we have already tried:

  • adding -Dfile.encoding = UTF-8 option
  • modifying a keyword file using UTF8
  • changing the whole project encoding in ISO =>, which works, but is not suitable for the production part, which should display messages in UTF8

Configure your POM to use UTF-8 in all respected plugins (will also be used with m2eclipse):
