Naked domain support for Azure sites

In appearance, the new Azure Websites Feature still does not support their placement in a bare domain, such as example.com, and not www.example.com. Did I miss something?

Azure websites have now released bare domain support. Websites that run in shared or reserved instances support bare domains through an A record. Domain management is available through the Azure Management Portal.

In practice, this means that when I want to update my website, I must first perform an intermediate deployment; and then switch it with a production deployment and finally remove the intermediate deployment. The only caveat I knew about was that you cannot do this if you change the configuration of the endpoint (even the names).

I am currently looking to see if there are the same guarantees for websites, but have not yet found suitable documentation.
