I'm just wondering if the iPod Touch 4G supports Bluetooth 4.0 with low energy. Bluetooth LE (BLE) for iOS is supported for iOS v5.x. So, upgrading to iOS 5.x allows you to use BLE for iPod Touch?
Manufacturers sometimes use advanced hardware to make sure they are compatible with future technologies. In the same vein, is it possible that Apple did the same, assuming that BLE will be part of iOS v5.x?

The first smartphone supporting BLE is the iPhone 4S. Most iOS devices after iPhone 4S support BLE. Android? Not as much as I know. Thus, iOS devices are still the best platform for developing BLE.
