Why does the .mdb size grow three times with a small image?

I made several forms in Access 2010, and I am adding a company logo to the header form. This is a .jpg image and its size is 70KB. I don’t know why .mdb size immediately increased from 4 MB to 12 MB? (multiple shapes and the same logo) Perhaps there are some image compression options?
