I am looking to develop a hobby firmware at home and need a device programmer. Hoping to preserve Open Source solutions, I found the OpenOCD project as well as the Pirate Bus . For $ 30, this seems uninteresting, especially since it supports more than just JTAG (SPI, I2C, etc.). I saw a few mentions that this is not the fastest interface.
Has anyone used one of them and have an opinion on this? Any comparisons with other programmers listed on the Debug Adapter Hardware page of the OpenOCD documentation ?
