Is there a definitive guide to setting up Mamp Pro so that LAN users can browse / edit sites?

I was learning how to set up a LAN Mamp Pro server so that local users can edit / browse sites, but there seems to be a lot of confusion (at least I got confused based on why I read).

Concrete questions:

Starting Apache / Mysql as www / mysql: When I switch users to www / mysql, I see permission problems and cannot log into my CMS from a machine running Mamp Pro. What is the best way to fix this or run Mamp Pro - taking into account permissions when using clicking on DEV and LIVE servers using Git and Github.

Ports . Which is more secure, does Mamp Pro work using ports 8888/8889 or default 80/3306? And the only difference in adding / not adding port numbers when browsing sites?

Access to a site in the same network: . What are the steps to get this working - the firewall on the MAMP Pro machine is currently disabled to test the basic setup, but none of our local networks can connect to sites - tried 192.168.0.1:8888 and virtualhostname: 8888

Sorry if this is easy, but for a paid product, the help and support of Mamp Pro is rather scarce, and I suspect that it is simple if you know how to set up a Linux server, but if you do not know how to do it, this is why you buy MAMP Pro right?
