Run workflow from JavaScript in CRM 2011

I am trying to execute a workflow for the records selected in the view using the ribbon button. I have a working example using outdated services for CRM 4 compatibility:

However, I want to write this using CRM 2011 services to increase maintainability for future releases. Here is what I have tried so far, but this does not work - the call return code is HTTP 500 (Internal Server Error).

XMLHttpRequest corect, soapEnvelope.
