Loading TextView from xml in TextSwitcher

I am trying to configure TextSwitcher with loading a TextView from an XML file. I have this basic TextSwitcher example that uses an empty TextView that works fine:

But when I change the code to try to load a TextView from an XML file, it spills out a bunch of errors. Here's the modified code:

Can anyone suggest a suggestion in which I am wrong? The code compiles fine, but am I sure that using LayoutInflater is somehow being misused?
