Beginner python on mac osx 10.8

I study programming and work with Ruby and ROR, but I think it's better to use the Python language to teach programming. Although I see the beauty of Ruby and Rails, I feel that I need a language that is easier to learn programming concepts, and therefore Python. However, I cannot find an online or offline community running on osx Apple; basically, it seems people are pc for python. What I like about Ruby is that there are many books, communities, etc., and they usually have many Mac resources. Can someone point me to google groups, forums, etc. For beginner Python programmers who might have tutorials or help people working on Mountain Lion? I feel a little upset and caught between Ruby Vs. Python and just wantso that some Mac-specific resources work with the latest Python and ultimately Django.

Mac OS X 10.8 ships with Python 2.7.2 found in /usr/bin/python. Typically, in the Python world, your operating system is distracted, so there are not many OS-oriented communities. However, Apple makes full use of Python, and you can even write completely native applications using Python.
