In jVI for Netbeans, cursor does not appear

Depending on the font used, I can see a quarter of the cursor (the lower right rectangle does not blink) in the wrong place or not at all. However, the row I'm in and the column number is displayed in the lower right.

I tried a combination of fixed-width fonts combined with sizes (11-14), including the default Monospace, MacVim Menlo, the awful Courier, and another q-site proposed by Consolas.

Any ideas on how to get the cursor to display would be great. Alternative ways to get Vi bindings in NetBeans are also acceptable, although it seems that jVi is the most current / active effort.

NetBeans 7.1.2
