Let me start by reading a lot of questions and blog posts regarding the use of trunk / jQuery mobility combinations and trunk / Sencha comparisons, and in fact I have had a head in this space for some time, but still I found what he was looking for.
I am very familiar with Sencha and used it for closed applications (phonegap, etc.) in the past, and I really like it. However, for a small code base for web projects and more control over browser compatibility and various other reasons, this is not entirely suitable for certain tasks.
When I start trying to create mobile (but also desktop and tablet) network webapps from scratch, I think I miss three key things
- General mobile "init", screen fill, etc. (although this is easiest to replicate).
- Tabbed, iOS-style, navigation (of course, I can minimize myself, but it seems silly)
- Scrolling - scrolling part of the content, but especially the carousel, and how the carousel is associated with the tabbed interface.
I donβt worry about imitating every style of operating system of every device in the whole application, and actually would rather (showing some reasonable conventions) make them look a little different.
Ember flame has it , and I used it before, the kind of thing I'm looking for.
