I am interested to know how R can process data from memory. I found the package bigmemoryand friends ( bigtabulateand biganalytics), but was hoping that someone could point me to a developed example that uses file support for these packages. Any other out-of-memory tips will also be appreciated.

If this seems reasonable, you can start a publicly accessible machine image that already has R and do this task as soon as possible.
