The numeric keypad does not appear when porting an Android application to BB10

I have a field EditTextin my application with inputType="number". When you select a field, a regular keyboard appears; it shows a regular Qwerty keyboard with no numbers.

I want the keyboard to display the number keys on the keyboard, instead requiring the user to manually switch to entering numbers. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Is there a workaround for this?

I am running the latest version of BB10 on a Dev Alpha device (released January 30, 2013).
