if I set up two windows r2 r2 servers, I can get distributed transactions to work in only one direction. when I can get DTCPing to work successfully, DTC works. DTCP, however, only works when I run a test from one machine to another, and not vice versa.
call my computer application and database.
if I run DTCPing for both and the key application in an instance in the database and press enter, DTCPing reflects success.
if I run DTCPing in both and the key database in the application instance, I don’t get anything that says failure, it just does not start until completion. it looks like it is completing the rpc test, but does not go to the binding test. the logs do reflect an error, but I understand that this is related to checking the cluster, and these machines are not in the clusters and that it does not matter. if this is not the case, let me know, but I see the same error in the log when I do DTCP in the direction that succeeds.
The output in the DTCPing window in the application shows the following:
