Second hard drive for MongoDB using directoryperdb

Does anyone have any experience using it directoryperdb? I can’t find many examples of its use and would like to first start my thought process with some knowledgeable people.

I have a terabyte database and want to add another to a separate hard drive. I can’t ruin it, as reintegration of my data takes several hours.

I currently have:

  • --dbpath as /home/mongo
  • New beautiful empty hard drive mounted on /hd/newhd

My process is as follows:

  • Allows you to call an existing database oldand a new one new.
  • mkdir /home/mongo/old
  • mv /home/mongo/* /home/mongo/old/
  • Symlink /home/mongo/newto/hd/newhd/newmongodb
  • vim /etc/mongod.conf ~ and install directoryperdb = true
  • restart mongod and start inserting data into a new db called new

? ?
