Is there an alternative to Deep Zoom for the Windows Store App?

I need to work with a lot of images (high resolution), and the best approach was to use Deep Zoom, but it is not available for the Windows Store app.

Is there an alternative? If not, what could be the best approach for creating a custom control like Deep Zoom?
