Cannot get dialog for programming in jQuery Mobile

I am trying to get a div with a data type dialog to display in jQuery Mobile emitted by a Javascript event. Clicking a button in the example below is a clean event.

The console.log output starts correctly, but I can do nothing to display the dialog box.

Any help was appreciated.

$(document).ready(function() {    
    $('#createEvent').click (function () {
        console.log('Prove event fired');

        $.mobile.changePage('#addCatForm', {
            transition: 'pop',
            changeHash: true,
            role: 'dialog'
        });
    });
});

The dialog should be at the same level as the page, not part of the page. In this case, I moved the dialog outside the page.

Your structure should look like this: data-role=dialogout data-role=page.
