Problem using ViewPager and PageTransformer with Android API <11

I need to write a custom transition for the ViewPager in an application with android:minSdkVersion="9".

I am trying to run a ZoomOutPageTransformergiven here .

I do not get a compilation error, but on Samsung Galaxy S it is running Android 2.3.3 (API 10), line

pager.setPageTransformer(true, new ZoomOutPageTransformer());

gives no error, but the code in ZoomOutPageTransformer transformPagenever executes.

The code works fine if I install android:minSdkVersion="11"and use my Nexus 4 (API 17).

Can these PageTransformers be used with APIs 9 and 10? Otherwise, how to create custom transitions for ViewPager?
