Access cell attributes outside cellForRowAtIndexPath

I have five fields set on the registration controller. Username, display name, password, password confirmation, and email address.

They are installed with the following parameters:

The cells themselves work great. Then I check for the correct email address, etc. This also works fine.

What I would like to do is update the cell.textLabel.textColor attribute in the validation code. For example, if the email address is invalid, I want to update the text color of the label to red so that it stands out (I also sort the responder, etc.).

How do I get a link to this particular cell outside of the cell installation?
