How do I debug my Android development skills?

I know much more than the basics of Android. I have already used all the base classes available in Android. But still, sometimes, when I see some of the applications available on the PlayStore, I feel that I am not an expert yet, in fact I am very far from it. I really feel Learning when someone teaches you is much better than just learning. I want to have experience in

  • Development / design of a beautiful graphical interface for Android applications.
  • Effective coding. I can implement most things with code available somewhere on the network, but when it comes to customization, I struggle a bit. It is necessary to improve coding skills so that the product has the most effective piece of code.
  • Satisfy with new additions to the API (for example, the action bar)

PS

I have been working as an Android developer for the last 2 years, I have worked on various applications using sqlite , SOAP based on web services , Google Maps , GPS , calendar API , etc.

I have never studied the Java core in preparation for SCJP certification these days.

Please provide your advice and the approximate time that I will need to get a feeling or confidence that I am an expert or an expert from Android developers.
