Is Visual Studio 2010 SP1 safe to install and what exactly is the assembly signature

I just got this MSDN blog in my rss reader and I would like to know (since I do not fully understand the process what it says about whether I should or should not install SP1

In addition, I would like to know:

  • How are assemblies signed in visual studio?
  • how does the operating system check these signs?
  • gcc (mingw) or any other windows compilers sign their builds?

1) Yes. If you do not ship signed assemblies, you don’t have to worry about fixing MSBuild tools.
