How to determine your strength of the encryption algorithm in bits?

I am developing an encryption algorithm. The algorithm is symmetric (one key).

How do you measure the strength of algorithms in terms of bits? Is key length an algorithm strength?

EDIT:

Lesson 1 . Do not develop an encryption algorithm, AES and others. designed and standardized by scientists for any reason

Lesson 2 . The strength of encryption algorithms is not measured in bits, the size of keys. The strength of an algorithm is determined by its design. In general, an algorithm using a larger key size is more complex than brute force and therefore stronger.
