On-demand streaming

I am currently studying various streaming methods for both real-time streaming and on-demand streaming.

I read about multicast and unicast, and now I have the following question, to which I can not find the answer.

"Is it possible to create on-demand streaming using multicast?"

I understand that when using multicast, the media server creates a video stream that plays only once, to which users can connect and watch.

Is it because multicasting only allows you to live live? If someone can not explain to me how it works?

Some cable / satellite networks implement multicast and use time windows to group as many viewers as possible. For example, wait up to 5 minutes to watch a video showing the infamous phrase “buffering”.
