Problem installing sql server 2008 in windows xp sp2

I need to install Sql Server Express 2008 on my PC with Windows XP SP2 (32 bit). But when installing Sql Server, Windows PowerShell installation fails. This stops the installation of the Sql server.

What should I do now? I found that there is no PowerShell available for XP SP2, so I need to upgrade to XP SP 3.

Is there a way to install Sql Server 2008 without upgrading to SP3?

If you have Windows XP, you cannot download SQL Server 2012 [Express], so Windows PowerShell must be installed to fix it. Then install SQL Server 2008 R2 [Express] again.
