AT command to receive automatic SMS notification

I have 2 gprs / gsm modems with me, at the moment one of them is huawei and the other is a modem. I have no problem sending or receiving SMS messages through AT commands. However, I am trying to get automatic notification using this AT + CNMI command, and I cannot get it to work, but when I try to execute this command, the modem responds with ok without errors.

The procedures that I have performed so far

  • I tried many combinations for the AT + CNMI 2,1,0,0,0,0, 2,2,0,0,0, etc. commands, but to no avail

  • I installed the preferred message store on the SIM card, and I receive the message and retrieve it using various AT commands.

I tried in hyperterminal as well as using C, but to no avail. The firmware included with the modem may be notified. Can anyone help me on this.

I managed to find out the problem already :). Basically, the modem I used uses several different ports, and a new message notification will be received by the other port. The problem is resolved.

Many of these types of devices use different commands. Some use proprietary commands. Since it works great with the included software, I would recommend figuring out how it works.
