I am trying to install RSRubyon Ubuntu 10.04. I don’t even know which error messages should be reported as appropriate; I’ve searched for several hours in search engines, and none of the teams that I’m trying to solve has been resolved.
Here are some examples of error messages:
$ sudo gem install rsruby
Building native extensions. This could take a while...
ERROR: Error installing rsruby:
ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.
/usr/bin/ruby1.8 extconf.rb
checking for main() in -lR... yes
checking for R.h... no
ERROR: Cannot find the R header, aborting.
Gem files will remain installed in /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/rsruby-0.5.1.1 for inspection.
Results logged to /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/rsruby-0.5.1.1/ext/gem_make.out
or do it with apt-get:
$ sudo gem install rsruby
INFO: `gem install -y` is now default and will be removed

I also received the latest version RSRubyfrom GitHub and followed the instructions from my 2006 guide in PDF format:

necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more

Sometimes it seems to me that I can get something similar to work, but I can not load RSRubyfrom the command line irb.
