I would like to have a fake Android account that I can use to test add / remove / merge / link to contacts. In my search I am a little surprised that something did not appear. I am new to the android scene. How do people usually handle this?

You can use the android emulator that comes with the SDK, and that’s about it if you don’t want to use your own device.
I'm not sure if the android emulator allows access to contacts.
