Google Maps in IE7 - External Absolute Positioned Elements Behind

I have a Google map embedded on my page and a drop down menu located behind it in IE7.

This is because IE7 does not know how to properly position z-index values for elements if there is an element placed relative to the offset in the mix.

In the past, when I came across this problem, usually an element located relatively that was not necessary. Fast position: static and everything is in order.

But in this case, Google Maps needs map_canvas to be relatively positioned so that map fragments can be located ...

Is there any other job there? Any other solutions anyone can offer?

Thanks in advance.
