Is there a problem if I have English and Chinese versions of the same name / meta tag under the same exact address? I define the language that the user set for the browser (via the http header field "accept-language") and changed the names / meta tags based on the set of languages. I get a large percentage of my traffic from China and I think that for these users this is a better localized user interface, but I don’t know how Google will consider it. The feeling of my feeling tells me that this is bad for SEO.
Baidu.com, a large Chinese search engine, actually collects my translated tags, however for other sites based on the USA, it does not translate its English names / meta tags into Chinese. I would think that Chinese users are less likely to click on them.
Creating subdomains and / or separate domains for other countries is currently not an option. If you have only one language (English) for my title / meta tags to avoid problems with the search engine?
