I am trying to create an application that inserts fragments of a large image into a QGraphicsScene. But loading all the fragments at the same time is time consuming and consumes a lot of memory. Therefore, I subclass QGraphicsItem and redefine the paint. The paint method in the QGraphicsItem class is called only when it appears in the view inside the QGraphicsView. Therefore, loading my plate inside the paint, I can basically create an application that loads tiles only when they appear. This is still working.
