How can I track web hits in my Azure role

I am working on a web application and finally published it on Azure. The application is not critical, and currently I use only one role to reduce costs.

I would like to start trying to figure out who (if someone is using my site). Can anyone give me some advice on how I can do this. I would really like not to use anything like the google scripts that I see that some websites use to monitor page views. I would like to do as much as possible on the server.

Help advice on where to start and what to look at will be very grateful.
