Is it necessary to correct if the plane of the camera is aligned?

If I take pictures from a pair of cameras whose main axis (in both cameras) is perpendicular to the baseline, do I need to fix the images? A typical example would be bumblebee stereo pairs.

If you can also guarantee that:

  • camera axes are parallel (maybe, therefore, if they were bought as one package, for example, a bumblebee)
  • You have no lens distortion (maybe not)
  • all other parameters of the internal camera are identical.
  • your measurement axis is parallel to your baseline.

then you can skip image correction. Personally, I would not.
