How to stitch multiple images

I tried to study the theory behind image stitching and found articles on how to stitch only two images. I have read many articles about stitching, such as Lowe, which was an excellent image stitching paper. But one thing is always missing, how do several images fit together? Is this the 1st image with all the other images, stitches them together, and then the result of this with the remaining set of images? If someone could clear my doubts, it would be great
