Video Recording - Sound - Sensor in Java

I would like to develop an application that can capture video from a webcam, capture sound from a microphone and capture if there is a proximity sensor.

Initially, I want it to run on windows, but if possible, I could make it work on android later.

I am looking for something fairly straightforward and easy to understand. My research led me to the Java Media Framework, but it's too old and abandoned. FMJ also seems old. JavaCV seems to have poor documentation.

My goal is to make a home detection application that uses camera snapshots, microphone sounds, and sensors to detect and analyze home intrusions. I can take the jump and do it in .NET or other object-oriented programming languages, if easier solutions. How do I approach this, what are your suggestions?
