How to show the progress of copying a large file in iOS?

I am writing an iOS application. In my application, I want to copy some files from one folder to another. But since some files are too large, it takes a long time to complete the copy. So I want to add a progress bar to show the percentage of copy. But I found that the file manager does not have a callback method to get the percentage. Anyone have a good solution?

At a high level:

  • Start the copy process in a separate thread (T1)
  • Run another thread (T2), which periodically reads (say every 100 ms) the destination file current_size.
  • Calculate Percentage: current_size / total_size
  • . ui element
