Google Hangouts API for iOS

I was looking for a link for the Google Hangouts API used in iOS. I was told that last week or so Google released an API for working on iOS, but I couldn’t find anything ... has anyone else heard anything about this? Or perhaps it has been for some time, and I just don't see it?

Hangout Apps (and the Hangout API) are only supported on desktop browsers. You can start and join a video call without apps from the iOS iOS app.
