How to listen to character input in JTextField?

I want to verify that a JTextField contains only “numbers” and “no” (+, -) before sending the contents of this JTextField in an Sql request (to throw a SqlException).

I want to:

  • If I enter a letter, JLabel will appear and the color of the JTextField will turn red.

    label_errer.setVisible (true);

  • If I delete the letter, JLabel will disappear and the color of the JTextField will be normal.

    label_errer.setVisible (false);

The following code works if I press enter:
