What's the difference between "." and [System.ENVIRONMENT] :: CurrentDirectory in powershell?

[System.Environment]::CurrentDirectory returns the working directory of the PowerShell process . To get the working directory of a console session, use the cmdlet Get-Location(or pwd, $ pwd).

Please note that this “working directory” can also be a location in the registry or any other location provider.
