Google Analytics: Simultaneous use of classic and universal tracking

Recently, I needed to include demographic and percentage reporting on a website that had already been upgraded to a universal tracking code. Since the universal tracking code is not configured to support demographic and percentage reporting until stage 3, I decided to create a new Google Analytics property for the same site.

The SEOcial site now simultaneously launches a universal tracking code and a classic tracking code with demographic and percentage reporting, two different Google Analytics properties using the same URL. Do I have to manually change the property code of classic analytics to the same property as the generic analytics code?

I am a little worried because I could not find a definitive answer to the question whether this will work or not. I would like to make sure that this does not harm the site’s statistics. Has anyone done this before or something similar? Can you shed some light on what is the best way to incorporate demographic and percentage property reports using universal analytics?

Do not change the UA property of the classic code - it must be different from Universal Analytics. Hold it like it is now.
