
Today I tried just running a simple, unmodified Adventure spritekit sample (downloaded from Apple) on a simulator or on an iphone, and came across a very strange behavior:
Textures are replaced by a large, red "X"
Threre is not a runtime error, but when I break at the point where the textures should be loaded, the atlas seems empty (after [... atlasNamed:@"Tiles"]). The description printed on it is "0 textures." In addition, I checked the “Copy Instance Resources” phase and enabled Tiles.atlas. There is nothing suspicious about the atlases, they are added to the targets, and the photos are inside.
