Google Hangouts cannot insert file into chat conversation

Can someone tell me what is going wrong based on the message below? I managed to insert / paste the file inside the Google Hangouts session, but when I try now, this is what I get:

An error has occurred! Details: Invalid credentials (missing or invalid oAuth token)

I signed up and left, rebooted, left Chrome, and went back in.

Appreciate any help.

I searched for this feature this morning and realize that, unfortunately, this does not exist. Forum @google products are full of requests for this feature, see the link below for reference.
