I'm new to SSRS and asked to add custom authentication to access the report server and report manager on SQL Server 2012
I followed the instructions for the Microsoft security extension sample next to the teeth. The only changes I made are the actual databases UILogin.aspx and Login.aspx and UserAccounts and that the vmi v11 namespace is used. The project was compiled in debug mode ( GetUserInfo changed to not include Assert exception and null reference)
I will be able to add a user login and assign him as administrator in /ReportServer/rsreportserver.config in the <Security> <Extension> <Configuration> <AdminConfiguration> <UserName> section . This user can connect both to the report manager ( https: // <domain> / Reports ) and to the report server view ( https: // <domain> / ReportServer ) [We configured using https and it seems to work. The idea behind using custom form authentication is that we can access reports remotely]
Then I register the new user in the UserAccounts database and want the user to have access to the report manager. Enter the report manager with the first user of the settings and go to Site Settings → Security → Assign a new role and add a new user (not a domain user) to the “System Administration” and “System User” roles. I expect this to give the user access to both types of login. But trying to login with a new user gives errors:
Report Manager Errors Using:
User '' does not have the required permissions. Verify that Windows User Account Control (UAC) permissions are granted and the restrictions were addressed
The report server displays errors with (username masked):
, '< > '; . (RsAccessDenied)
, , .
<Security> <Extension> <Configuration> <AdminConfiguration> <UserName> , , , .
